This is the full deatils for the gene Ammons "Greatest Hits" LP bought yesterday for £3 - some surface noise but the best track by far is "Jungle Strut". as its a later funkier track.

I used to have a beat-up copy of Gene Ammons "Jungle Soul" LP on Prestige (silver & black label) and the sound just blasted out of that thing in a way no other LP could match. Rudy the optometrist knew how to make a deep groove mono recording breathe fire.

Oh yes i agree - his recordings were tough yet subtle, and this LP, despite not being in the best condition, sounds amazingly well engineered. The sound attacks you from the instant the needle hits the groove.
