The Hope No Hope DJ Gig
Aug. 25th, 2009 10:32 pmThe Friday night i shared the gig with Ally (21str Aug) i also helped out another guy down at The Hope , namely Rick The Hat. I left the Hampton at 9.25 pm to nip down tp the Hope leaving Ally spinning his fine selection. Rick was meant to start at 9pm. When i got there ten minutes later he was still setting up the decks. His friend had to drag him down there as he was so nervous he had cold feet. I helped pliugging things in and then we got started , He played one tune and i did the next five, and after a few more drinks he was fine, spinning a wicked selection of tunes. So i decided to leave him to it at about 11.20pm to nip back to the Hampton to finish off there at 1am.
After me and Ally finished the gig, as he had to leave a bit early for an early morning visit to kent to see his parents, i nipped back to the Hope to do the final hour to 2am. When i got there Rick was already unplugging the equipment and i wanted to know what the fuck was going on.
Apparently from the lady bar staff he had turned up the volume so loud that she kept turning it down and he kept turning it back up. Shge even got a dB meter to check it, it was 99db in places and should be no more than 85dB. This gave him the hump and in a drunken state of willfulness turned everything off with nio chance of me finishing the gig.
He did not get payed for it for that reason alone,as well as the fact he turned up late. I made sure i got my twenty quid of the forty we were supposed to make by apologising profusely to her about my friend iwho was going through a "bad zone" situation (split up with girlfriend and money problems, etc etc). I think the lass took pity on me and did not quibble about my share of the money since i did the promotion for it.
He is getting one last chance for half an hour this Saturday at the Funk Fest at the Hampton where i shall be controlling the situation with tight reigns.
