Books and Grooves

jazzy_daveWell after a cold Sunday and Monday today has been really beautiful and warm again and it looks like tomorrow will just as nice if not better. Then Thursday by all accounts it will be crap. So maybe that day i will be off to London for the day.
Picked up a few books cheaply -
Georges Bataille "Eroticsm"
and
Zbigniew Herbert "The Collected Poems 1956 - 1988"
plus
Simon Schama "Citizens"
Posted off four items sold from Discogs - and just checked that i now have three more orders today.- so sales ticking over just nicely.
Bought the latest copy of Private Eye. Haven't read one for years but it is still just as fuuny and irreverant as it always been.Great stuff.
I was drinking outside the Evening Star this late afternoon. A young lady came outside and she seemed to recognise me, and asked if i was JAZZY D to which i replied yes i am. My reputation preceedes me!! She wanted to know when i was DJing next. Well it just so happens that i am at the NORTHERN LIGHTS this coming Bank Holiday Monday. I just had the conformation from Manu. I next play there on the 28th May.
However i do need more venues and i just found out today that Rick The Hat sometimes DJ's at White Rabbit pub in the North Laines. This is in Kensington Gardens opposite Brighton Books. I still would lke to play at the Quadrant again and do the occasional spot at The Fish Bowl with DJ Abo and Ally Smith. So i shall send off letters of introductions to said venues to get myself back on a regular gig.
I do miss playing tunes to people who may not heard the kind of funky grooves i play!
GC goes on holiday tomorrow for a week in Turkey with her friend from Canada. I shall keep on an eye on her place meanwhile
Finders Keepers have released some new comps which i am drooling after including an interesting collection of Persian pop funk and folk.
So the more i sell on Discogs the more likely i can get these comps!
