Russian Around Town

The weather has been up and down recently. Fine day Monday, yesterday overcast followed by a bucket load of rain and then today beautiful again. I slipped over  on a greasy wet pavement walking back from the Evening Star after the downpour. I am okay but just a very minor graze on the hand , and before you jump to any conclusion , I wasn’t drunk as I only one pint of Six Hop Ale.

Picked up another LP cheap from a charity shop, “Stax Funk”  (Ace Records) from Oxfam today. Also, from Sandpiper Books two back room bargains (a quid each).

Interestingly, the main guy who runs Sandpiper, also follows me here on LJ. I have this sense of déjà vu that I might have said this before, but along with Julian and Rob, I have a few Brightonians tracking me. I still find LJ much better for the long term blog entry which Facebok does not lend itself to so well. I suppose if it is short aphorisms or pithy updates of your life then Facebook is more apt and relevant, otherwise for the more cerebral , and generally,  longer esays and scribbles LJ is de facto the outright winner.

I popped in to see Julian yesterday to sell a few CDs but a couple were just a bit too wayward for the likes of Fine Records,  particularly the Paul Panhuysen CD “Partitas For Long Strings” (XI Records). That one has been put back on sale at Discogs.

I was hoping that Phil from the Dover Castle in  Teynham was driving over to Brighton tomorrow so I could bring some of my vinyl  etc back to Kent. I had a message from him to say that they would be short staffed on Thursday and hence cannot make it. 

I am going back to Kent on Friday, no matter what,  for the next FA Cup weekend.  Brighton travel up to Stoke and Crawley have the magical visit to Manchester to play United!

I shall take with me a black overnight bag full of DVDs and CDs , plus a couple of books , as well as laptop and trolley case. I can then come back to Brighton after a week has gone by to get another lot of stuff that is currently clogging up a friend’s dwelling.
