Spoons and Books

jazzy_daveAnother few records and CDs posted off today. The Discogs trading is going steady and smoothly with little in the way of hiccups.
Scoured charity shops for new stock to read or sell. Bought two paperbacks -
“Life of Po” Yann Martel (Canongate)
“The Graduate” Charles Webb (Penguin)
both for under a quid.
The Martel book was one of the 25 given away on World Book Night.
Watched Eggheads. GC wanted to know what a meme was , as it was first coined by Richard Dawkins. Its definition is -
an element of a culture or system of behaviour passed from one individual to another by imitation or other non-genetic means.
Most LJ bloggers will know what a meme is anyway.
Visited two Wetherspoon pubs as well. The West Quay at the Marina and the new Post & Telegraph in North Street.
Two thirds the way through “Beloved” by Toni Morrison, and I hope to give it away down at the Evening Star tomorrow. However , I was surprise to see a WBN book being sold in a charity shop for profit. Admittedly, it is a charity shop and hence the proceeds from the sale will go to a charity, but it still does not feel right. Perhaps I am being a bit pedantic.
