jazzy_daveThe past week in Seaford has been a roller-coaster of a ride with a friend going through a bit of a meltdown vis a vis stress related depression , which has now been alleviated by the fact that with the right pills, and other factors, she is a lot more stable
I must admit that the reading habit has slowed somewhat, but now I am back in Kent,it will return to my normal pace. Having said that, I have just finished reading Kazuo Ishiguro's novel “When We Were Orphans”, and after a few months leaving it aside, completed William Burrough's classic “ Naked Lunch”.
Came back from the bucolic reverie that is Seaford yesterday, and today I took the usual fortnightly trip to Sittingbourne. Whilst in the town, I spent a few moments in the library, and had a mystery shop at The Summoner pub. Munched into Gammon steak with fried eggs and chips and a tasty Jacobs Creek Merlot to wash it down with.
Watching BBC4 at the moment , The Old Grey Whistletest, well highlights from the seventies. Personally, the ones I am interested in are the soul ones, such as Curtis Mayfield, Gladys Knight & The Pips and Gil Scott Heron. Cousin will be more interested in the punky shit (yawn widely). It is a pity that the BBC can't rerun the whole of the seventies Old Grey Whistletest.
Wednesday I took a much needed excursion to Brighton after going to GC to Eastbourne. Popped into the Evening Star to have a few pints. Met the usual bunch of friends such as Nigel, and some bloody scousers down for the cup match (Brighton were playing against Liverpool that evening). Had a few RCH Porters and a strong American ale that weighed in at 9.2 % ABV.
Unfortunately the tasty Thornbridge range was not available.
