I don't know why Spot, my cousin, banged on the door last evening whilst he took his own keys with him. This happens evry time he has been out and up the pub whilst i have been indoors. I left the Dover Castle early to catch a TV programme at nine and used the spare back door key to get in , and decide to go to bed quite early, as i was tired, and it was afterwards around eleven that he annoyed me by his banging thrice on the door. He eventually found his key after i shouted at him through the letter box that he had both front and back door keys.
At least, in his defence, he did buy me a belated birthday present, a hardback novel based in the Elizabethan period of the 16th centruy, starting in the summer of 1584, and partly centred around the catherdal city of Canterbury. This thriller features the radical philosopher and spy, Giordano Bruno. Included in the book is a sketched map of the Canterbury Precincts 1584 which was empahsised by cousin quite a few times last night pointing to the opening pages of the book where the map is to be found.
I have already read the first two chapters.
The book is by S. J. Parris , a nom de plume for the journalist Stephanie Meritt, and the booki is "Sacrilege" (Harper Collins). She currently writes for the Observer and the Guardian.
Plus, she is a very good looking lass.
