Diggin' In Sittingbourne

Another fun day at the radio station this morning with Nicola playing some solid tunes including a classic Hall & Oates track “I Can’t Go For That (no Can Do)” which De La Soul sampled on “Say No Go”. Each time a good soulful track was played I put up a hand scrawled note from a pad of paper to the window of her booth with the words “Good tune!” It made her smile very time.
During the day I did an errand, and went for a bit of record diggin’. Found some nice albums for 50 pence each,, a couple of 12” singles at 25 pence each and a stoned funk compilation on James Brown’s People label.
Pieces Of A Dream - Makes You Wanna (Manhattan Records)
Pieces Of A Dream - Bout Dat Time (EMI USA)
Quincy Jones - Back On The Block (Qwest records)
The System - Don’t Disturb This Groove (Atlantic)
Stephanie Mils - Home (MCA)
The Family Stand - Ghetto Heaven (Atlantic 12”)
Lil Louis - French Kiss (FFRR recirds 12”)
Various Artists - James brown’s Funky People (People)

Some great tracks on the latter LP with the JB’s, Fred Wesley and The JB‘s, Lyn Collins and Maceo & The Macks.
