The Soft Machine - Facelift (Live in Paris, 1970)

The quintet version of the band, captured at the Theatre de la Musique on March 2, 1970 for France's Pop Deux tv show. Featuring the short-lived line-up of Lyn Dobson and Elton Dean-reeds, Hugh Hopper-bass, Mike Ratledge-keyboards, and Robert Wyatt-drums, this was towards the end of Lyn Dobson's tenure, as he left by March 15! The show was broadcast in two 30 minute segments and the picture and sound quality are both excellent. The only drawback is tht there is fake applause at 'inappropriate junctures', mostly done to hide the edits that had to be done to take a band who played long songs in a continuous set and turn this into two 30' segments. Every Soft Machine fan needs this.

Charles Tolliver - Compassion

Charles Tolliver : trumpet
Nathen Page : guitar

Bushpilot - 23

23 is taken from Bushpilot's '23' album.

23 is BUSHPILOT's magnum opus beautifully crafted and totally way ahead of its time. Influenced by Can, Slint and Talk Talk Bushpilot signed to Cherry Red in the mid nineties and recorded two albums before disbanding and heading off in different directions. The album was recorded back in 1994 but left in the archives without seeing the light of day until NOW.

Time for some music.

The Muffins - Queenside

Victory Of The Better Man - Views

Victory Of The Better Man' was formed in 1988 in Cologne, Germany by the visual artist and singer Harald Bernhard, reeds and piano-player Martin Fredebeul, bass and keyboard-player Matthias Kratzenstein and guitarist UK Rattay.
They are an obscure German band that's somewhere between 'Aqsak Maboul' and 'Howard Devoto'. The music is very experimental but lyrical in spots, with a collage of sounds and textures strewn with total dada, macaronic lyrics throughout.
