I must admit to being very impressed with David Hurwitz CD collection and how he orders his collection in alphabetical order by composers or if a single artist by artist order. Mind you, being the sub-editor of Classics Today he does have a large collection. I used an online database to get to grips with my roughly thousand CD collection - 982 actually on the database.

I know very well where most of mine are in the various trays, racks and boxes I have and usually file them in genres as such. Like him, I often look at the shelves and easily pick any CD I fancy to play. So, indeed it is the listening that is important and not so much the filing system.
