New Laptop
Dec. 21st, 2008 01:30 pmWell after a few upheavals finally pursuaded L that this new laptop is the perfect gift for her (a Dell PC) although not in the colour that she wanted (red or purple) but functional black. It was free on a contract with 3 mobile. Got it from Curry's yeterday and today a bag to go with it.
So here i am in the Quadrant pub doing my blog site and drinking a pint of Arundel Castle Ale. I am loving this machine. I know i bought it as a pressie for L but then it only cost me the price of a monthly contract.
So now i have walked from the Quadrant to the Evening Star pub and connrected to their wi-fi. Truly mobile internet!

Wakehurst Place and Osibisa
Sep. 27th, 2008 05:50 pmStill a problem with the Pc so i am back at the internet cafe.
Had a nice quiwet day at Wakehurst Place doing a mystery shop. First the Stables restaurant and then the cafe afterwards with a nice quiet period of contemplation in between. Just sitting on the grass and watching the world go by,and the ducks feed and play by the lake. So peaceful there.
Still prefer the hustle and bustle of a city. However it was serene and enabled bm,e to read some John Betjeman and Sylvia Plath poetry without being disturbed.
Last night i saw Osibisa live. they were playing at the Unitarian Church on this free music festival which has been on during the last three days in trhe city.

The place was packed out and i could only find a spot to the side of the band. They were good. Reminded me of their great albums on MCA records but went off the boil somewhat when they transfered to the Bronze label. Must dig them out and play the records again.
On the way back form the church i found some CDs in a box with a "please take me" bit of paper stuck to it. On getting said box home found it was mostly compilations of modern disco music plus three Moby CDs and one by K T Tunstall, oh and one by Dido which the wife already has.. Ugh! Well at least they could sold on or exchanged for something better.
Monday shall detach all connections to poorly sick PC and take it down to that repair shop in New England Street. Just hope it won't cost too much to sort it out.

Techy Problem
Sep. 10th, 2008 05:14 pmBeen a Bit of a struggle with the PC after noticing at first a problem with Outlook Express and then having the screen flicker on and off, so a pint of beer at my local to mull things over worked. Came back, had a flashback or insight, and hey presto, problems solved. I was quite relieved!
Mind you before said resolution i had been tearing my hair out and cursing wildly.
Last night another free film event , this time at the Odeon. It did not look promising but the film turned out a real laugh despite the violence ,and it being an American comedy thriller. The film in question - "Pineapple Express" - and it was really quite funny. Thumbs up to it!
