Yogi Adonaiasis - Gettingittogether

Here is a weird double album from 1971 with a hippie guru named Yogi Adonaiasis. The entire first side of the album is just him introducing the songs on the album, and it's the best track on the album! The reason it works is due to his hip groovy guru language and the fact that he is in an echo chamber. This one is best listened to with headphones. Shoutout to the dachshunds.
From Waxidermy: "Truly bizarre double lp made by this lounge singer turned self-styled yogi. Side one is deep thoughts about being, spoken through super echoed-out effects. Much like what you'd expect to find from a psychedelic guru of the time. The weird part is that the other 3 sides are basically normal, albeit crudely recorded, schmaltzy lounge standards like "My Way". Apparently, enlightenment came on so fast for this dude that there is a significant overlap of lifestyles captured here.

I am in a very musical frame of mind today, so here is som woerd folk music.

Joanna Newsom - Monkey and Bear

This song is about a man (monkey) taking a woman (ursula/bear) and using her for his own gain, but bear takes his place (as ursula) among the stars. She is definitely a story teller.

artwork

For anybody growing up in the sixties in Britain they might have heard of the comedian and inventor of Unwinese", Stanley Unwin, whose only vinyl recording is this slice of wackiness from 1961. He was featured sporadically oin radio programmes  such as "Just A Minute", plus TV series such as "Secret Service", and an appearance as a landlord in the film "Carry On Regardless".

This download came from the Trunk Records website for a mere fifty pence for the weekend. He also featured on the Small Faces seminal "Ogden's Nut Gone Flake" album as "Happiness Stan".

The full version of "Happiness Stan" - all nineteen minutes of it.

Deep joy!
