Two more tunes for the morning - the first one appeared on the current Wire Tapper CD. It actually dates back to 1982 but is a fine slice of disco coolness.

Muslimgauze - Narcotic

"Bryn Jones was not a practising Muslim and never travelled to the Middle East. His recordings as Muslimgauze, however, qualified him as one of the Western artists most explicitly slanted in favour of the Palestinian liberation movement. Since the Manchester native’s works were instrumental, most of the political statement was inherent in the packaging: witness titles such as Fatah Guerrilla, Return of Black September, Hebron Massacre, Vote Hezbollah, United States of Islam, and The Rape of Palestine. Jones’s output was so idiosyncratic and prolific that he would remix anything he was given to suit his purposes and recorded an album almost every week.

Abdou El Omari - Marsoul Alhoub

First issue of this previously unreleased Oriental psych monster from the organ king of Casablanca, combining traditional rhythms with spaced out modern sounds. Third part of Abdou El Omari's Nuits-trilogy. This album contains dazzling instrumentals spiced up with some traditional vocal parts. While playing his fine melodies Abdou switches swiftly from his "Farfisa Professional" mothership to an analogue ARP synthesizer. This new sound and funky wah guitar riffs give his music an extra-cosmic touch.

Just three visits were done today as I was having abit of a morning overlay. Still, the ones I did in Chatham and Maidstone went well. I was going to do others but time slipped away and I got a bit tired, so I decided to go home and listen to some Buena Vista Social Club.

Have no Havanas, so a pipe will do.

She is an Egyptian-British singer known for her fusion of Arabic and Western music, particularly hip-hop. She once termed her music "cha'abi moderne" (modern popular music). Her music has been influenced by many styles including Maghrebain, hip hop, drum and bass and reggae.

Natacha Atlas was born in Brussels of Anglo Egyptian parentage. Her British mother was born Christian becoming Buddhist in the 1970s. Her father, of Egyptian descent, deeply interested in Sufi mysticism and the Gurdjieff philosophy of the fourth way, also studied Chinese medicine and Taoism.

Natacha was raised listening to music from both east and west and to be tolerant of all religions. That is how it should be!
