I will be catching up  with this latest look into Georgian history (The First Georgians: The German Kings Who Made Britain) after the Rule Britannia one on music from the last three weeks. I have watched half of the first episode on the tablet already.

Presented  by Dr. Lucy Worsley, this is telly that i will be watching. It is part of the Beeb's 18th Century season.

When i woke up this morning the sun was out. It has now clouded over and looks likely precipitation will be the order of the day and just when i thought it would be nice to walk to Sittingbourne, that idea might be scuppered.

This morning i found this lovely clip of Vaughan Williams exquisite "Five Variants of Dives And Lazarus" which i recently heard on BBC Radio 3. I had forgotten about this lovely piece of sublime music, and hence decided to share it with LJ readers here - Enjoy!

Takes my breath away every time i listen to it.

Lucy Worsley's a decent historian although this isn't really her period.

It's RVW, so it's bound to be gorgeous. :o)

Thank you for the video. I adore Vaughn Williams and that's exquisite.

Would that I could see the BBC show. I'll have to hope it comes to BBCAmerica or PBS.

Oooh, I love Vaughan Williams, though I rarely listen to classical and haven't heard him in years. I'll listen to this later, when I don't have a meeting coming up in a few minutes. Thank you.

Ralph Vaughan Williams achieved notoriety in this year's Classic FM Hall of Fame. Listeners voted him into 1st and 3rd places with 'The Lark Ascending' and 'Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis' respectively. I love his music, particularly the 'Dives and Lazarus'. This is a great post!
