The authenticity of Xmas is rather moot. Based as it is on a pagan ritual of celebrating the winter solstice. Ethnically Jesus was a Jew anyway. So Hanukkah should be more appropriate. IMHO , religion as such, is a load of toss. If anything, i waver between atheism and a paganism of older times. So for now i shall call it Yuletide.

Although Jesus was a Jew, and although the Jewish people celebrate Chanukah, the Festival of Lights actually wasn't codified into Jewish law until about 600 years after the actual events. Since the original event was in the 160's BCE, the actual commemoration of the Miracle of the Oil would not have been celebrated widely among the Jews until approximately 400-500 AD.

There are other celebrations of light mentioned in the Jewish texts that might push this a bit earlier, but not a great deal.

Just relax and celebrate the return of light through the passage of the Solstice. :-)
