Hove Visit,Books and Old Hat
Aug. 2nd, 2006 07:50 amBusy day on Tuesday, Had an exit survey at Lloyds Chemist in Church Road,Hove during the day,and then a mystery shop at the restaurant in the Travel Inn Lodge in North Street,Brighton to do early evening. Afterwards went over to Georgina's (GC to you) to pick up two boxes of ice cream for a survey someone else (living in Hove) failed to do for the wonderful Margaret Wallace (supervisor for Marketing Sciences).
Also in between the Hove session and the mystery shop popped into Sandpiper Books and bought two backroom books for a £1 each, "Like Young - Jazz,Pop,Youth and Midle Age" by Francis Davis (Da Capo press 2001 ISBN 0 306 81186-3) which i am keeping, and "The Book Nobody Read,Chasing The revolutions of Nicolaus Copernicus" by Owen Gingerich (Penguin 2005 ISBN 0 14 303476-6),which once i read it will be stall-bound. The third book from them in the main shop was "Roosevelt's Blues, African-American Blues and Gospel Songs On FDR" by Guido van Rijn (Unversity Press of Mississippi 1997 ISBN 0 87805 938-5) and one which i am most likely to keep as it was £4.99. I must look out for Guido's other book "Eisenhower's Blues", and apparently there are CD's associated with these two books available separately.
I did check to see if Borderline had that recent Patty Waters CD but Stephen had the last copy.Bugger!
Quite a few good mentions of moi in his recent LJ diary as well. I reserved an Old Hat CD for him at Across The Tracks which i spotted on Saturday, togther with another on the same lable, called "Music from The Lost Provinces", which i got put by for me for an upcoming exchange. It is the very first time i have seen this label in a second hand record shop, the same one which produced the amazing Joe Bussard collection and Medicine Show collection.
Their website is well worth a visit at http://www.oldhatrecords.com/
