Zigzag

When I visited the Wetherspoon pubs the other day I was looking out for the demi-mode folks of Brighton that I know. None to be found , and probably all at the Evening Star, which I will visit later today.

I have now finished “Beloved” by Toni Morrison and will give the book away in the Star to somebody else to read. It did not grip as much as the others I have read and I doubt I will pick up any other novel by Toni.

I am now reading the fascinating and true story of the double agent Eddie Chapman , who was notorious in the last World War. It is a book I have started this morning, and is difficult to put down. “Agent Zigzag” by Ben Macintyre , one of the WBN give-aways I picked up a few weeks ago. So without further ado, I am going back to read a bit more.

Leitmotif

I think my planning has gone somewhat awry, as some of the things I wanted to do this period from escaping the claustrophobic clutches of Kent has fallen by the wayside. However, this mini sojourn will be back in full come next Monday as on the Friday evening I will be the conductor of the turntables at the Northern Lights.

This seems to be my current leitmotif – flitting between Kent and Sussex like will of the wisp. Perhaps this happenstance is advantageous for me in remaining off the damned census, an unnecessary intrusion into our private lives.

Circumstances preclude me from settling in one place until a certain time in which ,due to my age, would precipitate a more permanent stay in Brighton. That moment will not arrive till the middle of May. I remain cautiously optimistic.
