Last night Spot , Phil and myself took part in the pub quiz, as a team called the Fit Fifties until Dorothy got our quiz sheet and changed it to Fat Fifties. Cheeky mare!

We ended up fifth from twenty teams , and we could have been higher if Spot hadn't misheard some newspaper quotes from 2011 ,believing that Jimbo wanted the newspaper the quote was in rather than whom the quote referred to. This was part two where Jimbo had fiendishly set up letter combinations for the quiz, so for example TVOD turned out to The Vicar or Of Dibley. It was a bit of a disaster after getting 20 out of 25 in the first part of the quiz, right down to the fact that I thought NW would be News of the World, but actually was Nintendo Wii. Thanks cousin.

He even forgot about the famous quote from Sebb Blatter about black people (the SB in part two).

Phil gave me some Woods dark navy rum for my sniffling cold. It was extremely warming as it went down the gullet , and as Phil rightly pointed out it would either kill or cure it.

This was taken earlier on and they are still there together. How sweet.

...isn't this where we came in? Lionel Bart Deram DML 1028, 1970

Lionel Bart, the late composer responsible for the Oliver musical (and many others), produced this sort of concept LP, sort of musical soundtrack on the cult Deram label with the help of a great lineup of some of the best library musicians from the KPM era. Madeline Bell, Danny Thompson, John Cameron and more feature on the album. The music is typically Brit musical in feel for most of the album, but there's a cracking loungecore funk tune with really big KPM-style beats (and a killer opening break) and good horn work on 'May a man be merry?'. Hard to find these days - check it out.

Overall Rating: 3

Mark Murphy - On The Red Clay
From the album "Mark Murphy Sings" (Muse)

Mark Murphy, one of my favourite jazz vocalists, sings over one of Freddie Hubbard’s most classic compositions. As far as I know, this has never been sampled and that always surprised the hell out of me.Check the you tube video of it here -
