Hey guys and gals need more friends hence i am pimping So here is a quick resume -

I'm 58 and a funky music fan of long standing and enjoy a strange mix of music from the avant-garde to kitsch and oddball stuff plus the more funkier and jazzier side of music as well as latin, salsa and soul.Occasionally reading Shindig magazine ,which is the best of all the main music mags around, and for all the weirder shit The Wire magazine which is the BEST underground music mag ever! I love French art films, science fiction films, and oddball experimental films.I read voraciously esp. books on philosophy, science, art and architecture, history, design history, folklore and ethnography and the odd occasional cult novels.

Occasionally DJ at various pubs and bars in Brighton particularly the Northern Lights and the Druids Arms.

Plus a constant blogger. Share this.

Most of the morning , well roughly three hours of it, has been spent sorting out my cousin's laptop, a Toshiba one running Windows 7. He had a huge problem, not of virus infection, but lack of memory on the hard drive. specifically, all his backups have been loaded on to the data partition on the hard drive, plus some unwanted programs that ask for payment for them , whilst i know that there are decent similar utilities that are freeware and just as good.

Anyway, after using CCleaner, degfragged the hard drive, and such like, deleting unwanted programs, i have made his laptop perform better, and a bit faster.

His 128 GB hard drive has loads more space on it as well. Think i deserve a free pint for this work, and thank goodness i have no visits today until towards the middle of the week when i bus down to Sussex for my DJ gig.

Brownie points for me.

A good night of telly watching this evening which started with University Challenge, then Only Connect, and a fascinating look on Magna Carta with the historian David Starkey.

Programme synopsis and a link below.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b05139m4/david-starkeys-magna-carta

David Starkey's Magna Carta

We take our liberties for granted. They seem absolute and untouchable. But they are the result of a series of violent struggles fought over 800 years that, at times, have threatened to tear our society apart. On the frontline was a document originally inked on animal skin - Magna Carta.
Distinguished constitutional historian David Starkey looks at the origins of the Great Charter, created in 1215 to check the abuses of King John - and how it nearly died at birth. He explores its subsequent deployment, its contribution to making everyone - even the monarch - subject to the rule of law, and how this quintessentially English document migrated to the North American colonies and eventually became the foundation of the US constitution.
Magna Carta has become a universal symbol of individual freedom against the tyranny of the state, but with ever-tightening government control on our lives, is it time to resurrect it?
Starkey has a special encounter with an original Magna Carta manuscript at the British Library, one of only four from 1215 to survive. He also examines other unique medieval manuscripts that trace the tumultuous history of Magna Carta, the Article of the Barons listing their demands in June 1215, and the papal bull declaring Magna Carta null and void less than two months after it was sealed.

Before i do my next extended Buffy fest of season five here is a selection of quality tunes from different genres of music that i am into.

First track, a cool jazz number from McCoy Tyner from his album "The Real McCoy" and "Passion Dance".. You have to love Blue Note records !

Next up, from a reissue on the Organ of Corti label Terry Riley and Poppy Nogood.

Classic rock monsters Led Zeppelin and When The Levee Breaks from their forth album. I use have this on gatefold vinyl!

And finally from electroacoustic composer Francis Dhomont a track called
Chambre D'enfants.

Enjoy.
