Bret Easton Ellis "The Informers" (Picador)
Collection of short stories set in LA in the early-mid 80s, using many of the same characters. Basically an inferior riff on the themes of Less Than Zero - the characters are drugged and bored out of any emotional connection with the world, which makes the book tough to engage with at first until the later stories show what that state of affairs leads to and some outlandish horror occurs almost unnoticed. Decent enough by the end, but basically the same ground he covered in a far more impressive novel a decade earlier.

Sunny Saturday and Recent Book Finds
Jun. 22nd, 2019 07:28 pmWell, it has been a lovely warm sunny day. The temperature soared to 22 degrees Centigrade and it looks like next week we will hoy 28 to 30 degrees C!
I have been reading and sunbathing for most of the day. Had lasagne for lunch and been listening to some music.
These are the books bought from the charity shop in Tenterden.
Now then, I had to order today a new laptop power cord and plug unit for my Chromebook because the end - plug end into the laptop - has broken and thus I cannot charge up the laptop. New one from Amazon should arrive tomorrow but that is £15 expense that I could have done without, Oh well, needs must and so on.
