It was another mild and sunny day. Yay, what gives but sure enjoying this fine spell of good weather!

I popped over to Sittigboure to do an overt watch company display check in one of these jewelry shops. I went by bus as it is easier for me and the driver had a problem trying to give me a Swale Day ticket so he told me to get on and I had a free ride. On my journey back with a different driver, they also had a problem trying to issue me a Swale Day ticket - costing five quid - and thus I had a free ride home again.

I later popped into town and sold some books at Past Sentence and bought some food items. For dinner, I had a pepperoni pizza with this spicy mushroom and celery starter.

Currently listening to another great CD from Jazz in Britain.

The label has given us some great and important recodings.

Another dull overcast day but thankfully no rain. Didn't do much anyway, so it was a day of relaxing and getting inebriated lol

However, the second of two recent Miles Davis CDs turned up. Both were recorded in France in 1991 before his untimely death. Both reviewed in the current issue of Wire. Both are essential for jazz and Davis fans!

Oh, I am enjoying a lovely bottle of Chilean red wine!

Some days just have to be wine days!!

Another selection of oddities and grooves -

Dr. K's Blues Band - Long Distance Call

Keith Seatman - Avoid Large Places

From the Album Time To Dream But Never Seen.
An album steeped in sweet shop mysticism of a stranger and gentler England. Its Syd Barrett, Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, Radiophonic workshop, and even Tommy Cooper and the remnants of Music hall. Soundscapes, simple motifs, and spoken word combine to make a time-traveling portal to an imagined place. It is on this knife-edge between whimsy and potential darkness where the mood of the album sits.

Chris Barber And Band - Fire And Rain

Another selection of grooves and curios -

Clifford Brown and Max Roach - Lands End

A Study in Brown is one of those great bebop jazz albums of the fifties. Dig it, man!

The Craftys - L.O.V.E

he Craftys - L-O-V-E / Heartbreaking World Doing a bit of research (so you don't have to) The Craftys was better known as The Halos and at one time included JR Bailey in their ranks who went on to release some mighty fine Soul 45s and one killer album in the 70s.

Al Bowlly - Close Your Eyes

Charlie Drake - You Never Know

Bizarre 7" by the diminutive comedian which features the talents of Peter Gabriel, Robert Fripp, Phil Collins, and Sandy Denny among others!

The King's Singers - Some Enchanted Wavelengths

This slightly better (upper class) harmony group recorded this tune to advise listeners how to change their BBC radio dials in 1978. It is a fun record that is a bit scratchy, sorry.
