Time for jazzy poetry -

Annie Ross with the Tony Kinsey Quintet - Bellini

Singer Annie Ross teams up with Brit Jazzer Tony Kinsey to turn the poetry of Christopher Logue into jazz goodness.
Ross had sung these songs at Peter Cook's Establishment Club in Soho. Typically anti-establishment in a very 60s way, this is my favourite on the album.
The lyrics are inventive and funny, Ross is in perfect form and Kinsey provides some great support.
His quintet included Les Condon on trumpet, Pete King on tenor, Brian Brocklehurst on bass, Gordon Beck on piano as well as Roy Willocks on tenor and flute, Malcolm Cecil on bass, Bill le Sage on vibes, Johnny Scott on alto and flute and Stanley Myers on piano
Recorded in 1963 this is a gem of a record and a gem of a song

Well,i must had a deepsleep. I did bot wake till after nine this morning. The weather is sunny again but the nights can be chilly now. What woke me is the thud of the letter box with post and a CD i found on Amazon for £3  amazingly enough - Milford Graves "Stories" (Tzadik). It is another one of his percussion albums ,that whilst on the surface may seem boring, but is imbued with multi-instrumental flare and vocal  idiomatic ululations that are hypnotic and immersive.
