Last night i went to The Hampton Arms to do my usual spot with Phil. Arrived later than usual at 8pm for the 7" Sunday. Place was packed and they had ten people already Djing for the night - a record! Then i realise it is the last night that Ollie and Georgia, with hairy James, are running the place and moving on to ventures new - specifically Riki Tiks. This was a farewell party and everybody got bloody drunk ,including me, and i did not have to pay a penny towards the drinks. I put on some hot salsa,Brazilain,  and latino music that got one lady jigging about.

Surprisingly,Tim and John came over as well, both being drinking buddies down at the Evening Star.
I took some photos but by then too pissed to focus properly but these are the best.

Well now that i have the desktop PC back  from repair i can start recording vinyl and convert them to mp3's and add to mix CDR's for friends and handing out to prospective pubs like the Black Lion Inn.

It needed a new cooling fan,new video chip set, extra RAM memory and a general clean up and tidy up.

Friday night visited the Northern Lights as Ville (DJ Åbo) was playing with Alle Smith (his cohort on these occassions). Good music as always from these guys.

PRS visit to the Jacobs Post in Burgess Hill was cancelled by the venue itself and tonight's vist to the Portland Pub also cancelled due to the fact that the  pub is having fewer punters in and hence the live gig got cancelled!

Picked up a few goodies today -

Various Artists - Jazz Kazmak (Most Records LP)
Jazz fusion funky tunes from the Yugoslavian vaults.

Jack McDuff - Sophisticated Funk (Chess LP)

Various Artists - The Big Beat (Detour LP)
Excellent comp of strange funky stuff from Alain goraguer,George Grunz,Birds and Brass, Hugo Montenegro etc.

Caravan - For Girls Who grow Plump In The Night (Deram LP)
Classic prog rock from Canterbury group

Tomorrow a visit to the Hampton Arms between 6 - 7pm , spinning vinyl with DJ Flipside, and then down to The Great Eastern pub at 8pm , Prognosis, with DJ Ben, spinning progressive rock and progressive sounds from the globe. GC said she will come to that one.

Last night i did go to the Hampton Arms for the 45 fest but as i was the only one turned up and the resident Sunday DJ had been playing for almost three hours i had a good two and a half hour to myself from my singles box. Funnily enought it was the same DJ who i did the PRS visit on the previous Sunday. He has a number of monikers but his Sunday night one is DJ Flipside-master, and is around his mid twenties i guess. He uses the same internet cafe as i do. Life is full of coincidences like that.

(Publicity photograph from a Brighton pub guide)

Playlist will be in my next post.

Talking of the post, two CDs and one LP arrived via Amazon marketplace.

Various - Well Hung ,Funk-Rock Eruptions From Beneath Communist Hugary Vol. 1 (Finders Keepers CD)
Various - Give Me Love,Songs Of The Broken Hearted - Baghdad 1925-1929 (Honest Jons CD)
Air - Moon Safari (Source LP)

The Honest Jons comp didn't cost me anything as i used a ten pound Amazon voucher courtesy of an online market research company.

Another Performing Rights Society (PRS) job last night at Event II Brighton - this time my first DJ one and i joined the DJ in his central DJ booth. A mixture of house,R&B,classic disco and some indie - basically a mixed bag of good,OK and the damn awful!!  Best of the bunch "Love Generation" by Bob Sinclair and "Mr.Big Stuff" by Jean Knight (a funky Stax number from 1972). Strange that the latter by Ms Knight has always been a disco favourite but it never charted here in the UK. Anyway a good job well done with lots of help from the DJ with the tracks i did not know, especially two "white labels".

Four hours work that with expenses comes to a nice £50. Left about 3 AM -
