Despite forebodings of loads of rain, today has turned out to be quite a lovely warm day. In fact, good enough for sunbathing out in the garden reading a book this afternoon whilst Tim was watching the sport, and then listening to some music. We have moved the Sony hi fi system downstairs from his bedroom in to the lounge and now play music again from CDs and his iPod.

I found out he was listening to Nick Cave with the mute on the television. So after my stint outside, I put on Trees “On the Shore” (which we are listening to now) and will follow with Tom Waits. Tom Waits musically is one you either love or hate, there is no middle ground, just like Marmite. Tim and I love his music.

Yesterday I spent an hour in the library and discovered some new art websites which I will be looking at in the next few weeks.

MONDAY

Bit of a quiet day - most ly did mystery shops starting in Worthing at Wickes, then to the Weatherspoons pub in the same town for a drink only visit and then a meal at The Bright Helm, with a frre pint of ber as part of the deal. I had a strong Belgian ale called Carolus Ambrio (8% ABV). The meal was minted lamb burger with chips and it was delicious.

Found a new charity shop in Worthing, although i guess it has been there for a long while but i only just discovered it. Found some vinyl stuff at 25 pence a throw and picked up a couple of goodies (highllighted in WEIDSOUNDZ). I   have passed it a few times without noticing it, it's called The Thrift Shop. Very appropiate i thought.

TUESDAY

A job in Eastbourne , and another fine warm day. Picked up a reissue copy of  the "Shaft In Africa!" soundtrack which features the Four Tops "Are You Man Enough" (ABC) with  music by Johnny Pate, and Betty Davis "They Say I'm Different" (Just Sunshine LP) , another reisssue of a classic funk album.

WEDNESDAY

In Worthing again,at The Orange Store, this time. Music Mania is closed on Wednesdays and nothing of interest at the charity shops except  for The Thrift Shop which had the first Scritti Polittti LP prior to the one you see everywhere. "Cupid and Pysche 85"  is so easy to find but not so the previous album.

Finally in Fopp the classic "Belle de Jour" film on DVD and  "Innocent When You Dream, Tom Waits ,The Collected Interviews" (Orion Books).

Been sneezing quite alot today. Sounds like a cold to me.

Stall meeting at the usual pub.and probably the worst takings for a long while - only £13 after rent whereas the last two times it has hovered around £20. A radical re-evaluation is needed, with a reassesment of vinyl and books and some markdowns to encourage more sales.

Earlier popped over to Horsham for an exit survey at a small Tesco Express, and it was very windy over there. On the way back found a copy of the new Tom Waits limited edition 3CD set "Orphans" (Anti) in the recently opened Fopp store. It has sold out in Brighton and apparantly now deleted.

Tomorrow i might go to London - it depends on how i feel.

I will also be doing a Best of 2006 list before the year is out. Contenders for the top five include Joanna Newsom,Scott Walker and Tom Waits.
