The only good thing about today -

BEERS WITH EWART -

We arrived in my local around two in the afternoon and did not leave till about six in the early evening. So six pints later - and a slight siesta - I am at home.

Well, folks, that was a good day. A day of heavy imbibing at my local pub, during the afternoon, with Phil and Jimbo. Not seen Jimbo for about eight years and not since they left the Dover Castle Inn eight years ago Time does fly by quickly. Ewart joined an hour later, and we had about four pints before we hit the whisky. Mind you, both Phil and Jimbo left by then, and I arrived home at around seven and promptly fell asleep. Until now of course.

Good times.

I had to pop into town and get some brown tape for a package I was posting. So I did that and bought some food items and then ended up in my local pub. Unbeknown to me at the time I entered the pub, my mate Ewart was in the Railway Inn further up the road. He walks by, spots me, and enters. WE spend up having the next two hours chatting away and getting more inebriated. With shots of whisky at just 99 pence and beers at £1.99, we had a few!

I no longer have the Monday blues.

Well, a fine day all around. A dry and occasionally sunny day.  I was a little more productive as well. I completed a few more mystery telephone calls. Not a mystery to me, though. Haha!!
Not much else happened. I listened to some music. I drunk more tipples from the whisky I received from Phil.  It is a late birthday gift from him when we met last night in my local pub.  I might make an Irish coffee later.

Cheers!

Thanks to all who wished me a happy birthday. Thanks to bro and Phil as well. Bro for the eight bottles of Peaky Blinder IPA and Phil for the bottle of Johnny Walker Double Black Whisky.

The Marisa Mote CD arrived today as well as the Tropicalia compilation on Soul Jazz Records.

Neighbour Connor gave me a whisky glass a few days ago so i had to get some bourbon for it. Playing the blues now.

Today was the monthly lunch club in Brighton. Phil picked me up at ten this morning and we arrived about fifteen minutes before midday. We started at The Evenig Star pub before walking down to  Cafe Rouge.

Phil tried the excellent Winter Solstice

I lneckd down a dark chocolate stout. Delicious rich flavours to it.

At Cafe Rouge everyone had steak of some sort. I , with my bro, had the succulent and very juicy 7 oz. fillet done medium rare.We had nibbles to start with , two bottles of the house red, and then a cheese board with coffee afterwards.

Inside Cafe Rouge - tippy tapping on mobile devices except for Graeme.

Outside Cafe Rouge - after the meal - taken by my brother. Yep,Mike gave me four books hence the blue bag.

We then finished at The Mesmerist across the road from Cafe Rouge and had Talisker whiskies.

A very enjoyable day!

Last night Mike, Tim and I had the tastiest roast pork with all the crackling, apple sauce, cauliflower cheese, roast spuds and vegetable medley. We had a meal at the Dover Castle and Phil, all week, has been boasting about how good his crackling is , and it was. We had a bottle of vino with the meal, and then had dessert , coffees and a cognac.

After Phil had finished cooking he brought out this single malt whisky, which was 60% proof, specially ordered for us for the evening. Man, it was smooth and it was pokey! Talisker after that felt ordinary.

Trouble was, the cauliflower cheese caused some perturbations in the nether regions, which meant quick visits to the gents to relieve oneself.

However, it was an excellent evening with delicious food and convivial company.

Tim was up first this morning , followed by me, and then my brother, who had egg on toast before getting his train back to Brighton
