New X-Files series coming in 2017http://www.hmv.com/video/new-x-files-series-coming-in-2017?sc_src=email_1502023Fox Broadcasting Company have announced that an 11th season of The X-Files is underway and is due to arrive later in 2017. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprised their roles as FBI special agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully for a 10th season early last year, some 14 years after the show ended its successful run after a ninth season in 2002.
Reaction to the 10th season was mixed, but audiences viewed the new series in sufficient numbers to persuade Fox to commission another and it was announced that an 11th season will begin shooting this summer, with the first episodes expected to hit our screens late in 2017.
Whereas the last season was billed as an 'event season' and restricted to just six episodes, the new series will comprise 10 new episodes and Chris Carter, the show's creator, will serve as executive producer for the new season.
A statement from Fox read: "Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide.
“Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files."
