James Last , German easy listening bandleader, has played his last. Passed away today. So, here is a tribute to him , and , despite being an easy listening geezer , this LP Well Kept Secret is a slice of rare groove funk.

Just listen to this track alone -

A bit of a round robin trip. I first via Ashford did a couple of visits in Tenterden, then one in the lovely village of Headcorn, and finally, via a short train trip, one charity shop in Paddock Wood.

Picked up another DVD box set. This time , the first season of Nikita, and a film called Inception. Plus two books and a T shirt.

The books are -

So, all in all, a good day hunting and a sunny day overall as well.

Thinking of Kid Creole  and his wonderful Coconuts here is a previous incarnation for August Darnell from 1976.

Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band - Cherchez la Femme  / Se Si Bon

From that same album -

I'll Play The Fool

Great album with the feel of the forties and yet swung with soul and disco grooves. Real musicians, real instruments, real recording, real music mixing (at the time) the modern disco beat with the retro 40's big band swing. And Cory's voice is priceless, just right for the feel of the groove.
