Lovely sunny Monday so far.
74 degrees F or roughly 23 C but the forecast is for rain tomorrow.
Possible thunderstorms for the next few days too.
A day off, so making the most of the sunbathing in the garden here at Waterstone Place.
Reading a book as well which I hope to finish soon.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sandman_jazz  for this Two Ronnies clip in his reply to my "just wondering" on crosswords.

Okay, first off, a thought for [livejournal.com profile] coming42 ,to unlock your book reviews to public as [livejournal.com profile] zhelena could only see the pro-Brexit tweets which are somewhat off putting.

Secondly, I found another Fela Kuti CD in my collection which I thought I did not have  - Underground System. This is one of the later ones he did which got reviewed in the Primer on him in the Wire and the book The Wire Primers.

Thirdly, just two chapters to go on my current read.

Will Gompertz "Think Like An Artist" (Penguin)

This little paperback is totally inspiring, informative and so easy to read.
It explores the creative process that starts as one of failure in a plan A but by being persistent, and knowing that doubt is fine, forward progress is made in a plan B and that creativity itself often comes from appropriating others and making something new from it. In essence, making a good artist into a great artist.

Just 200 pages long and short chapters, and some great coloured pictures which fold out of the book.
I wrote out a tonne of quotes from this book which I come back to again and again when in need of motivation and inspiration.

I have always loved this minimalist Australian trio.

The Necks - Abillera

From the CD "Chemist".

The Necks - He Led Them Into the World

The Necks are an experimental jazz trio from Sydney, comprising Chris Abrahams on piano and Hammond organ, Tony Buck on drums, percussion and electric guitar, and Lloyd Swanton on bass guitar and double bass. The band, who are also well known in Europe, play improvisational pieces of up to an hour in length that explore the development and demise of repeating musical figures. The band's 17th album Open was released in late 2013.

Their soundtrack for The Boys (1998) was nominated for ARIA Best Soundtrack Album, AFI Best Musical Score and Australian Guild of Screen Composers Award.
