Tonight I watched online the latest The Flash episode and the latest episode of DC's Legends Of Tomorrow. Then I watched the best movie by Tim Burton on DVD - Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children. One of the best fantasy films I have seen for a long time.

Next up - Avengers Endgame again.

well, what a bummer of a day weatherwise.
So it will be more channel surfing again.
These are the progs and movies I have watched recently -

Barbarella - classic fantasy film with Jane Fonda
Swamp Thing - based on the DC comic - ten episodes for season one - I really enjoyed this and it got critical acclaim too. Just one season and no more. Boohoo
Spooks - all ten seasons. Brilliant!
The Beyond - strange film but good.
Captain America The First Avenger - never watched it before and as it introduces Peggy Carter the WW2 movie was a blast. It also introduces Hydra! The SSR eventually becomes S.H.I.E.L.D
Captain America The Winter Soldier - the follow up in which best friend Bucky becomes the enemy - brainwashed by Hydra. I saw this one at the cinema.

And so next I am rewatching the two seasons of Agent Carter, played by the gorgeous Brit lass Hayley Atwell.

Love to see a season 3 of Agent Carter.

The BBC has some great box sets on their iPlayer. After Life on Mars and Ashes To Ashes, I am now watching Spooks from the first series. Actress Keeley Hawes is in that as well.

Gotham

The second week of the lockdown and social distancing. So far not too bad. Keeping busy doing other things. Reading, music listening and selling some stuff on eBay which have been posted.

Also, started watching Gotham again. I watched some time ago but only up to episode 17 of the first season. There have been five seasons of it and now just about to start season 3. This is based on the DC comics around the formative growing up years of Bruce Wayne aka Batman. It also introduces us to the origins of both The Penguin and The Riddler.

It is much darker than I thought. Totally different to the very campy 60s incarnation. Very adult, violent and strong in many ways. I am now hooked. If you have not seen it I totally recommend it.

Plus, it has the hottie Morena Baccarin , who played Inisa in Firefly.

Picard

Just finished the last episode of this first season of Picard. I really enjoyed the season.

So will there be a second season?

In fact, this current pandemic might well put back a number of entertainment shows to an unknown future. It is not just sport that is affected.

Yes, this DC Comics-based series is back for its third and final season. It is darker and more disturbing than before. Freeland is in lockdown, Markovian forces are on the attack to nab or kill all metas. The ASA, who infected the negro community with Green Light has declared martial law on the city. Midseason, Black Lightning finds himself on a parallel Earth helping The Flash, Superman, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow etc in Crisis on Multiple Earths. But now with just one Earth, he joins the freedom forces to take back the city - with the help of his daughters, Thunder (aka Blackbird)  and Jennifer.

As usual, the soundtrack is so funky, soulful, jazzy and cool. I binged watched 8 of the 16 episodes yesterday on Netflix.

I have been doing some binge-watching via Prime and BBC iPlayer recently.

I caught up with five episodes of Only Connect on BBC.

Watched a series called Primeval New World on Prime. !3 episodes that lasted one season. based on the old ITV Primaeval this Canadain production was just not as good as the Brit original. Mind you, the Brit original was marginally better but not much. It was eye candy. The idea of time portals randomly opening up to the dinosaur age is a good one but the storytelling floundered in the end.

Then there was this weird film called Midsommar. A 2019 film which is a folk horror film written and directed by Ari Aster and starring Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, William Jackson Harper, Vilhelm Blomgren, Ellora Torchia, Archie Madekwe, and Will Poulter. It follows a group of friends who travel to Sweden for a festival that occurs once every 90 years and find themselves in the clutches of a pagan cult. Anyway, it was okay and apparently got very good critical reviews. I beg to differ.

The best series at the moment IMNHO has to be Pickard, followed by Supergirl and Thre Flash.

Apart from that, I have been engrossed in music and reading.

Some trailers of said drama -

On the whole, the first two seasons  of the original version was good.

The Expanse

Just finished watching the last few episodes of The Expanse Season 4 on Prime. This show on Amazon has been very thrilling and thought-provoking. An excellent sci-fi show.

For those who have not seen it - here is the trailer for Season 4.

Well, episode ten now watched and that is that. A good if sombre episode overall with the colleagues of the Arrow morning his passing and yet celebrating him. Nice to see Felicity Smoak again though. She was the lass that made Arrow special for me.

Oliver's Coming Home? - Arrow Season 7 Episode 6

Saying Goodbye to Oliver - Arrow
Barry Allen aka The Flash.

Oh, and I like the easter egg at the end with Diggle noticing a meteorite crashing down, opening up and revealing something green - Green Lantern tv-series teaser.

This evening I watched the latest Doctor Who episode, which is turning out to a pretty good season and then the last episode of The Trial Of Christine Keeler. To be sure, she was a pawn in the foibles of powerful men.
I also watched two episodes of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 3. There seem to be some very good shows at the moment.

Well, time for bed soon I guess.

Another dull overcast day in the fabric of time. I zapped into town to see Kate at Past Sentence and sold some old paperbacks. I then journeyed to Whitstable to do a store visit that if it was a country its capital would be Reykjavik.

This evening I watched the first episode of Picard. It looks very promising. Also, there is now the third season of Sabrina so I shall watch that tomorrow, possibly.

A chilly sunny dry day overall. Did a couple of visits in Ashford and Kings Hill. I was going to do one in Bluewater but it was dark and cold and I felt like going home into the warmth. I hope to do the latter one tomorrow.

I must admit I really hate January. It is much colder and chilly than December. Financially tight as well. I look forward to busier and warmer days ahead.

I watched the latest episode of The Trial Of Christine Keeler last night. A fascinating dramatisation of the Profumo affair. Last night's episode was the trial of Stephen Ward, an osteopath, who allowed both Christine and Mandy Rice-Davies to stay at his mews property.

Started watching Good Omens. Very funny and David Tennant is brilliant in it.

The afternoon improved. We even had some sunshine. Thus I popped over to the island to do a supermarket cafe visit. Had a jacket potato filled with Chilli con Carne for my late lunch. This was just after three in the afternoon.

Afterwards, I caught the two buses back home and arrived in the warmth of the close at around 5.30 pm. I listened to a Schubert CD for a while before having a siesta - for four hours!

So now it is two hours of the last two parts of Crisis on Infinite Earths, and yes, it was a long break from the last episodes in December.
Tata for now.

I just watched the two parts of the new Doctor Who series which started on New Year's Day. I waited for the second part to see the whole two episodes in one sitting. I was enthralled and bowled over. These are the best two episodes since Jody has taken over. It had pace, thrills, cool gadgets, a cameo part by Stephen Fry, and the Master is back regenerated into a less white skin!

After the rather lacklustre previous season, which was a consensus by many, this bang of a starter actually bodes well for this season.

After the lovely sunny day, today, it is crap. Dark miserable clouds and it is raining hard.

I have been binge-watching Dr Who but the second series of Lost In Space is back on over at Netflix. So that is where I will be heading next.

Oops, been binge-watching Doctor Who again and now rewatching the first season of David Tennant as the Doctor.

So I am taking a break to watch His Dark Materials before going to bed.
