I was sat at my computer yesterday morning, at the table in the dining room. My wife was looking out of the window over our back garden when she suddenly said: "Goodness, what kind of bird is that on our back fence?!" (Ours is an urban garden not far from the centre of Brighton). Fortunately I always have binoculars to hand and took a look, astonished to see a female Sparrowhawk preening on the fence behind the garden shed.

I have kept records of garden visitors for 35 years and this is a first. Remarkable.

Well, another fine sunny day and even hotter than yesterday. A good 26 C was recorded in the sweet spot today.

I did some sunbathing intermittently.

The evening we had a chat with Mary and others in the garden over a bottle of vino.

I took some pics of the garden's flowers.

The new pagoda known as the Gin Shed.

It was another sunny day but slightly cooler as well which was beneficial really. As usual, I did some sunbathing and posted off some items I sold on eBay. I then chatted with some of the ladies in the garden during my afternoon sunbathing. Iris was in the garden with her puppy and a friend had come to visit. The friend, Mitsy, lives in Teynham and had once worked with Phil in the kitchen at the Dover Castle Inn. She did all the washing up and putting away for Phil, Jimbo, and Paul.

I was on the phone to Phil for a while and hen got Mitsy to have a chat with Phil since she has not seen him for five years. Once again it is a small world.

Dinner this evening was chicken and chorizo stew with mixed veg rice.

Bank Holiday Monday was very warm in sunny in my sweet spot here. I di quite a bit of sunbathing and chatted to some of my neighbours in the garden. One such neighbour is Sue or in full Sue Coward. She lived in Teynham for awhile next to the old Fox pub. She moved to Teynham in 1994.

She knows of all the pubs in Teynham such as the George, Swan and of course the Dover Castle Inn. She loves her wine - a lot!!!

Also in the garden was jean and her family who came to see her today at the right distance of course.

Lunch I had a ham and cheese sarnie. Dinner was Cumberland sausage, onion gravy and mashed potato washed down with a Shephard Neame IPA.

I also managed to do some haircut on myself as it was getting too wayward and straggly.

Over the weekend I sold five books which I will post off tomorrow.
