Slouching Around On Sunday
Sep. 13th, 2020 07:20 pmA really sunny 25 C in the garden today so i did some sunbathing in the afternoon listening to Radio 4 Xtra. They had a special documentary and some radio shows of the classic Rod Serling The Twilight Zone radio dramas.
Well, another geezer lobbed me off their friends list probably miffed by my "No Like Button" stance. Not that I posted comments much on theirs so no major loss really.
So, in a way, it is time for me to weed out the defunct friends from my own list. But right now, I am listening to some Bob Dylan so maybe later.
Another book finished so review to be posted later.

Tuesday Thoughts
Jul. 21st, 2020 06:57 pmIt has been another warm sunny day. I did quite a lot of sunbathing whilst catching up on some radio programmes such as The 3rd Degree, You're Dead To Me, The Moral Maze, The Briefing Room, and Thinking Allowed. In essence, not a day being stuck indoors.
I did listen to Stravinsky in the morning and this one by the Hilliard Ensemble.

Off to do some reading now. I am entrenched in a book on Paris about the left bank area between 1946-1960.

Saturday Sunshine
Jul. 18th, 2020 07:25 pmWell, what a very warm day it has been. I did quite a bit of sunbathing. Listened to some music. Rearranged my CD's and did some reading.
That has been the thrust of the day.
I needed to rearrange the CD's because I sold an item which I am still unable to find and I knew I had it a few days ago, Will search again tomorrow.
Lunch was a curry based veg and potato dhall - a dollop of mayo, - with a separate bowl of new potatoes in mint , melted butter and peanut sauce.

Oh, did I say I love potatoes?

Sunny Day and Books
Jun. 22nd, 2020 05:51 pmIt has been a gloriously sunny day. Also, I did my first face to face mystery shop visit over the island since the lockdown. A very straightforward visit to one of these shops where everything is a pound. I have another in Ashford to do either Thursday or Friday.
Mary gave me five hardbacks to sell on eBay - they are all unread brand new hardback books on WW2. I am not that interested. I wonder if my bro
coming42 might be interested in some of them.

I am doing these for eight quid each including UK postage or added postage if abroad.
It is going to get warmer this week. Today in my sweet spot I sunbathed in 24 C of sunny warmth.

The Usual Sunday Slouching
Jun. 14th, 2020 05:48 pmIt has been another sunny sunbathing day. Did not do much. Chatted with neighbours who were sunbathing, read the newspaper, listened to some radio and imbibed a few beers. In other words, a quiescent recharge of any spent energy.
Tomorrow will be different. I have an email mystery shop to do and then on Thursday a trip to the island to do a shop visit. It will be a different normal to the one before but alt least it will not be weeks staring at four walls.
Later on I shall watch my DVD of The Epic Of Everest which includes a score from Simon Fisher Turner. See my previous post on the subject of SFT.

A Sunny Saturday
Jun. 13th, 2020 04:12 pmWell folks, after the dreary nondescript day yonder and without any brickbats thrown in my direction - I can say today has been a lovely warm sunny day in Faversham. I did a couple of hours sunbathing in the garden - which is resplendent with a range of flowers newly bedded by Mary and her green fingered cohorts. Sadly my rose bush has given up flowering more roses for now. However, there are a few white roses from the smaller bush opposite of my front door. Trouble is, it is less spectacular.
This recent debacle over statues should be germane to the whole "black lives matter" zeitgeist. Racism in any form should be quashed and reminders of any superiority over any other race should be countermanded with appropriate actions such as the taking down of the statue in Bristol. Ideally it should be placed in a museum in which both diacritical histories can be weighed upon each other. Yes, he might have been a philanthropist but also a slave owner that branded humans. Churchill certainly helped to win the war but also advocated white supremacy. Context is crucial.
Still I wonder what in a hundred years future generations will think of us.

Sunny Sunday
May. 31st, 2020 11:39 pmAnother warm sunny day although late afternoon the wind whipped up a bit. I did a few hours of sunbathing as well as having a few beers. I also listened to some music that I had set up as a playlist. The playlist crossed genres from rock, blues, classical, and jazz. Some Pink Floyd, Yes, Stravinsky, Miles Davis, Nina Simone, Soft Machine, Kraftwerk, J.S Bach, and Alan Hovhaness.
So in all, a very relaxing day for the last day of May. I guess now it is officially summer.
Dinner was a pepperoni pizza and garlic bread. I then had a cookie crumble flavoured ice cream. Indulgent I know but it was the last day of the weekend.
The evening has been spent watching Fringe and now I have reached Season 4.

Dark Side Of A Sunny Day
May. 30th, 2020 06:52 pmIt has been another gloriously sunny day. No clouds in the sky and excellent sunbathing weather. I did a few hours of that, drinking beer and listening to the radio.
I popped into town to get some provisions and did a mystery shop as well. I have four of these to do relating to COVID 19 safety rules for one of my European research companies worth twenty euros.

The garden looks really lovely and bucolic this time of the year.

Other residents enjoying the sun.
Lunch was a cheese and ham sarnie and my dinner a few minutes ago was two boneless salmon steaks chopped with caramelized slices of onion on a bed of Mexican rice.
Last night on Amazon Prime I watched a documentary on the making of Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd/. It was fascinating. An album that is still a classic.
Watching Season 3 of Fringe. Probably the best season so far. The idea of a parallel Earth and universes colliding are mindbogglingly developed here. I gave forgotten how good that series was!!
Well, the forecast for the week ahead is simply sunning sun all the way.

Today In The Garden
May. 27th, 2020 09:07 pmIt was another sunny day but slightly cooler as well which was beneficial really. As usual, I did some sunbathing and posted off some items I sold on eBay. I then chatted with some of the ladies in the garden during my afternoon sunbathing. Iris was in the garden with her puppy and a friend had come to visit. The friend, Mitsy, lives in Teynham and had once worked with Phil in the kitchen at the Dover Castle Inn. She did all the washing up and putting away for Phil, Jimbo, and Paul.

I was on the phone to Phil for a while and hen got Mitsy to have a chat with Phil since she has not seen him for five years. Once again it is a small world.
Dinner this evening was chicken and chorizo stew with mixed veg rice.

Sunday Slouching
May. 17th, 2020 05:59 pmA much better day weather wise. The sun was out for the majority of the day and it became an excellent sunbathing day. I was nourished by rays of joy from the sun for the majority of the time it was clear skies without little or no clouds.
Lunch was chilli-con-carne with Mexican rice. I then had some Ben & Jerry's ice cream.
In the afternoon I listened to some music on BBC 6 Music and then BBC Radio 3. The latter station had the jazz music requests programme followed by a half hour programme on why music makes us cry and now one called Words And Music. This is a weekly journey of discovery, weaving together a range of music with poetry and prose read by leading actors.
Today it is Travelling Fairs and Circuses with music, poetry and prose takes time to visit the fair, with words by Hardy, Wordsworth, Bunyan and Lorca, and music by Debussy, Tom Waits, Beatles, Stravinsky and Richard Rodgers.
Earlier I dug out some CD's by Beck - Odelay, Mellow Gold, Mutations and Guero.
So a music post will be forthcoming.

Sunday Sermon
Apr. 12th, 2020 06:48 pmA strange day weatherwise. Started sunny but then midday it had cooled down, winded up, only be a lot warmer mid-afternoon. I did some sunbathing in the latter period.
And thus I have a nice tan already.
I have watched some box sets online - completed both Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes. Watched a few episodes of Jonathan Creek as well.
Trying to stay positive through this unprecedented period as well. Listening to lots of music and reading but whilst the sun is out I am out in the garden.
Hope you are all safe and well.
