Summer Schools
Sep. 14th, 2015 08:51 pmHaving just watched University Challenge , i really wanted Reading University to win but they were up against a strong team in Imperial College. The reason for me wanting Reading to win in this heat was due to the fact that i spent a consecutive four years of summer school weeks whilst doing Open University courses way back in the late seventies to early eighties, when i took both the Science and Mathematics Foundation Courses, a second level Pure mathematics course, and second level physics course.
Later on when i did some arts couches the summer schools were at UMIST (University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology).
The best part of these summer schools was the evenings spent in the student campus bars drinking beer with like-minded people. Halcyon days indeed.
