Now a classic piece of sound poetry from the archives held on one of my many hard drives dotted around. Jaap Blonk doing a fantastic version of Kurt Schwitter's Ursonate.

Jaap Blonk's live performance of Kurt Schwitters' "Ursonate", augmented by real-time (live) computational typography by Golan Levin. Performance at STUK kunstencentrum, Leuven, January 2007. For more information, see the complete "Ursonography" documentation at: http://www.flong.com/projects/ursonog...

I have recently picked up an excellent history of Surealism and Dada book, and one of the main protagonists is Max ernst. Here is a documentray in two parts about him and his realtion to Surrealism.

At last, the money came in from my research company this morning. So i gave the ladies next door the five quid i owed them from yesterday, and gave my cousin thirteen quid towards the water rates.

I was going to do some visits today, specifically Canterbury and Folkstone but as time flew by so quickly i have decided to do these tomorrow with visits in Headcorn and Tenterden. Also i will be able to save the cost of travelling, but it means getting up early.

Also, the weather does not look good, threatening to rain, and it has been forecast that tomorrow will be sunnier.

Meanwhile, some reading or DVD watching will be the focus of the rest of the day.

I have been watching this DVD again which i bought in 2001 -

mycinema

My Cinema for the ears - The musique concrète of Francis Dhomont and Paul Lansky is a 59 minute film by Uli Aumüller. An impressionistic, wryly humorous look at nature and the creative process, the film features two composers Francis Dhomont and Paul Lansky - and follows their search for an art, that emanates from their surroundings.
The DVD "My Cinema for the Ears" is in French and English and includes subtitles in French, German and English. Besides the original composition "Un Autre Printemps" commissioned to Francis Dhomont and visualized by the video artist Robert Darroll, this DVD also features the audio tracks of Dhomont's piece "En Cuerdas" and Lansky's "Night Traffic", "Table's Clear" and "Idle Chatter Junior"

From it i have chosen a Paul Lansky track called called Night Traffic.

Enjoy.

On the last Brain of Britain quiz i listened to on Radio 4 they played a track by Einsturzende Neubauten and the question was what does the name mean? I knew it straight away as "collapsing new buildings"

And the track they played was Blume -

Here the German alt-rock band do a song called The Garden.

Talking about EN in the last post has lead me to my other favourite band , well one of them, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds , which for awhile had Blixa Bargeld in the line up.

Choosing my favourite Nick Cave track is difficult but this one just edges it for me. The track - Red Right Hand.

The other , second fave track , has to be Into My Arms.

Enjoy.

My bro posted a quality tune on FB today , he wrote, "In the midst of decorating, listening to BBC Radio 2, and Steve Wright just played this. I had the original album on vinyl and this track is a gem of jazz/funk from 1974" . I had that same album plus a live album with this track on it.

Kool And The Gang - Summer Madness

Blissed out jazz funk and i really dig that synth sound.

Plus this one from 1977, Ramp - Everybody Loves The Sunshine

Yeah man, looking forward to the summer

Finally, a soulful jazz tinged track featuring Michael Henderson on vocals,
Norman Connors - You Are My Starship.

Totally chilled out now. Enjoy.
