The weekend is here. Quietly relaxing and the hoovering can wait till tomorrow morning lol!! So on such relaxing afternoons, I shall now reserve to listen to some quality operas. If you said I would be into opera ay 17 I would have laughed. But now, and ever since The Wire in 1991 that introduced me to Mozart, it has been one of those genres I have quietly appreciated, and hence today right now it is Don Giovanni.

I found this 3 CD set for a quid in a charity shop some weeks ago, but only got around to listening to it today.

Last night I watched the latest episode of the new season of Star Trek Discovery and the latest DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Both are very enjoyable series in my opinion.

The weather is cool around 6C and rain is expected within the next hour. So it is nice being warm at home with good music and good books.

Oh, and before I forget, I have added my wish list to this year's paying it forward -

Have a peaceful day in these uncertain times.

SPN to STD

Last week I watched the final episode of Supernatural. I loved the big thankyou by the cast after the credits at the end of the last episode. 15 seasons is a long time. It has been such a ride.

Tonight I watched the latest episode of the third season of Star Trek Discovery, now in the 34th century, 900 plus years from their last adventures. So Vulcans and Romulans are united as one and no longer with the Federation after the Burn. Well, Spock always wanted these two pointy-eared factions to reunite. Anyway, a fascinating series. Loving it.

Wow! The latest episode of STD has used old clips from the original series to tie in with the current situation of  Spock and why they had to go to Talos IV. We also learn who the red angel is. Many have made derogatory remarks about this iteration if the Star Trek universe bit this third season is the best.

Yes, dear Trekkies I have been watching both Star Trek TNG and the new Discovery series. I watched the latest STD episode last night and been watching season 4 of TNG.

I will be watching some more of TNG this week.

Well, what a good start to Season Two of Star Trek Discovery (STD) which in watched last night. So the Enterprise is badly damaged and in need or substantial repair, and that its Captain Pike joins the Discovery team on a new mission.

We also learn that Michael, after the death of her parents when as a child was taken in by Spock's parents, and yet Spock the boy seems indifferent towards her. The reason for taking in the Earth child was so that Spock could learn empathy.

And what is the vision that Spock has?

I look forward to the next episode on Friday.

I also watched the latest episode of Supergirl last night. I love that series too. I have also been steadily watching old episodes of Star Trek The Original Series with Spock and James T Kirk and all.

It has been another indifferent day weatherwise but milder than yore.  Not much to add about the day except that I did sell another CD on Discogs, and again going to Europe. I have a feeling that most of my sales will be coming from across the Channel before Brexit bites and we are no longer part of the EU.  Personally. I still feel we should be part of Europe but it proves how insular we are again.

I have now completed all seven seasons of STV - and I am reminded how inspiring the Star Trek franchise has been. The universalist philosophy that the series is soaked in, that of tolerance and peacemaking, of the individual being part of a positive collective endeavour.  It is inspiring and holds up a mirror to our pettiness of this world, and that if we do not better ourselves with such ideals we as a race- homo sapiens - will perish.

Just watched the latest Star Trek Discovery after the Xmas hols sleep mode. So episode 10 see them in a parallel universe and n ow the evil empire is the Terran Empire - oh please , this has been done before , xenophobic humans versus the rest of the universe. with Klingons, Vulcans and others as the resistance.

I was really hoping they had slipped into some other unknown part of the universe far away from what we have seen already in any Star Trek franchise.

Slight disappointment , but it was a good episode. I just want them to go back to their own universe at haste or at leas# somewhere elsewhere in this vast universe.

Very much enjoying Star Trek Discovery - Saru 's threat ganglians were active again , gross but cool by the way - and i am also enjoying the latest SPN but without Castiel it is not quite the same. So will Jack become too much to handle for the boys? Time will tell.

Oh and btw did they have to call it Discovery as the initials STD sounds like ..well we all know what!

Watched the third episode of the  new Star Trek Discovery series on Netflix.tonight down my local pub. I am getting hooked on this and cannot wait till next Sunday to see what happens. Is Captain Lorca unhinged? Why bring that terrifying mobster inboard? Spores - now that is a novel way of interstellar travel - a kind of fold in the spacetime continuum - this is what the Discovery is trying to master - reminds me of the Spice folding spacetime in Frank Herbert's "Dune". Well,at least it is a new way to fly.

This looks good esp.if you are a dyed-in-the-wool Trekkie like myself -

Star Trek Anaxar Movie Prelude.

From You Tube

"Axanar is the independent production that proves a feature-quality Star Trek film can be made on a very modest budget -- approximately $80,000 in the case of the short film that you just watched -- and outside of the studio system. Filmed in Hollywood, this effort, our short proof-of-concept film to show what our professional and highly talented cast and crew can deliver, was made possible by generous donations to our first Kickstarter effort by fans like you. Prelude to Axanar is told in a retrospective documentary fashion, but the follow-up feature-length film that is currently in production will unfold as a traditional film that is told chronologically would. You are fans of Star Trek. We are fans of Star Trek. Together we can make amazing things happen!

This 21-minute short film, Prelude to Axanar, premiered Saturday, July 26th, 2014, at San Diego Comic Con, and features Richard Hatch, Tony Todd, Kate Vernon, JG Hertzler and Gary Graham -- Gary reprises his role of Soval from "Enterprise." The makeup and hair was designed by Academy Award winner Kevin Haney and Star Trek veteran Brad Look of Makeup Effects Lab in Hollywood. Top that off with the amazing visual effects of Tobias Richter of The Light Works, and sound by Academy Award winner Frank Serafine, and the result is Prelude to Axanar: something unlike anything you have ever seen before. We have our loyal donors to thank for this and we couldn't be more grateful!"

Pon Farr

Another dull and frankly dismal day. However, I shall venture forth towards Faversham to do the things i wanted to from yesterday. Lunch can wait till i get back. Perhaps a Morrisons curry pack is in order, as their microwavable curries seem to be the tastiest around.

Flo is currently in season and is making wild cat noises. I guess this is similar to the pon farr of the Vulcans in Star Trek, their blood ritual in which they have to mate or  engage in the ritual battle known as kal-if-fee. I was going to say i know how she feels but then thought better of it.
